5 June 2010 - 'My winner for best bistro pub in Wales' - Amazing food and service. I have eaten in a lot of quality bistro pubs in Wales and this is the best by far! I savoured every single mouthful. They are extremely accommodating and went the extra mile for our every request - even making up food for my 9 month old!

14 May 2010 - 'Outstanding food, highly recommended' - The Cider Mill is an hour by car (both ways) but it's worth every mile. We have been here many times and the food is absolutely amazing. The steak melts in your mouth and is cooked to perfection. They also smoke all their own meats and fish etc on the premises. This restaurant is highly recommended and you will not be dissappointed. On our last visit (yesterday) my husband also took home a piece of Andy's pork and apricot pie which tasted 'out of this world'.

9 May 2010 - 'Best meals in Wales' - Great food, great service, great value in fact everything was great. The bar and the lounge area are lovely places to eat and the restaurant is more formal but just as nice with the original cider mill still present. I have visited a number of times and have never been disappointed. The specials boards have a range of local products and are cooked to a very high standard. If you love your puddings you will be spoilt for choice and wanting seconds. I really would recommend this place for either an amazing pub lunch or for a special occasion.

19 Apr 10 - 'A wonderful evening' - We found this wonderful restaurant purely by accident. We only stopped off for a quiet drink and liked what we saw on the specials board so asked if they could squeeze us in. The staff were polite and efficient (especilly considering the place was full) and the food was first class. They even have a great selection of Welsh beers and ciders. Thoroughly recommended.

29 Jan 2010 I have eaten here a few times now and as always am welcomed by friendly staff, the owners are always front of house and have met the chef a few times as he always pops his head out to check people are happy and enjoying his food. the food here is honest and flavoursome and hasn't disappointed us yet. Would recommend.

Sept 2009 - Testimonial from the best of Abergavenny website The Cider Mill is a family owned and run restaurant. I have eaten here many times and each occasion has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The welcome and service is very friendly yet professional and the quality and variety of cooking superb. The specials menu changes frequently and is always worth a try. It is noteworthy that locally resourced ingredients are used wherever possible; for example the lamb is farmed just up the road. The wine list contains old favourites as well as new ones to tempt a change. Prices are very reasonable and represent excellent value. There are all too few restaurants anywhere where I say to myself on leaving that I intend to eat there again, and soon. This is one of them, and I will!

Sept 2009 Testimonial from the best of Abergavenny website What a testimonial to a family business, excellent cooking and service and the warmest of welcomes!! Within minutes all the guests were chatting across the tables and one of them graciously ordered drinks for us. The food was perfect - fresh, local and carefully cooked. The Cider Mill is a model of a sophisticated restaurant, but so cosy and so unpretentious that I cannot praise it highly enough!

Great welcome, homely service and food to die for. We had an evening meal and went back for Sunday lunch and we were not dissapointed. The only criticism we have, is that we wanted to return the next day, but it is their only day off, and that's a Monday. Fabulous family run business, using locally sourced produce, cooked superbly, hence our title for this review, a truly "sense-ational" experience. You have got to try the sticky toffee date pudding!

07-July-2009 Thank you very much for ensuring our New Zealand farmers had an enjoyable evening with you, all the feedback was wonderful as you also stayed open to ensure the wives didn't have to wander around in the rain and were instead able to enjoy coffee with you for the afternoon! 11-Jun-2009 We just wanted to say thank you for looking after us, it was my wifes first night out after a lengthy illness and you all looked after us and made our anniversary so special, she hasn't stopped talking about it since. We look forward to seeing you soon and obviously we'd like to book for next years anniversary too!

17-April-2009 A cosy place to stop for a drink and enjoy good food. I had a pint of Double Dragon - very well kept - with a steak and ale pie both went down very well! Had an open log fire going at the time and was lucky to get the table next to it! Will be back!

03-Dec-2008 Under new management since Nov 2007 but have retained the services of their excellent chef. This is probably one of the best restaurants in the area and attracts diners from all over South Wales including local celebrities. Ideal for that special occasion. Separate restaurant can be busy esp. on Saturday evenings - advisable to book. Rev. James is the pick of the beers - also serve good range of wines + draught ciders.

15-Aug-2008 This is one of those places that really makes you feel special when youʼre there - personal service and being genuinely interested make a huge difference when dining out, and at the Nantyffin the service is consistently excellent. I hardly need to mention the quality of the dishes themselves - starters are so good that you almost donʼt want to move onto the main course! Their fish specials are fantastic, and the staff seem very good at helping to pick the right wine for each dish. Itʼs not cheap here, to be honest, but you get what you pay for, and overall an excellent experience and one I hope to have again soon!

26-Jul-2008 This place has everything - a cosy bar with a roaring open fire in bad weather, a spacious elegant restaurant and great food in both places. You can literally taste the freshness and quality in every mouthful, especially the home-reared meat, and the presentation and service are terrific. All this and a superb wine list keep me coming back time and again.

The food was excellent, the service was great and as I think you could see all the gang enjoyed the event. You may have noticed that I had to move them on as no one wanted to end it.
